Winter Wine Tours

Winter is an incredible time to explore the vineyards in Nova Scotia. Wineries know its hard to get out of the city sometimes, so they pull out all the extras, from fried chicken Fridays, Sunday roasts and raclette to vineyard light shows. The vines may be dormant, but the wine is flowing!

Can I do a winter wine tour in Nova Scotia?

What Wineries are Open in the Winter

Some of my favourite wineries are open throughout the winter - mostly on weekends, which is perfect!

Benjamin Bridge, Lightfoot & Wolfville, Grand Pre Winery and Planter's Ridge are open year-round.

There's also the option to pop into one of the breweries, cideries or distilleries while we're up in the valley.

Is a winter wine tour fun?

Absolutely! Many of the wineries offer a different menu or experience in the winter. We still emphasize exploring the vineyards. It is a great way to explore the Valley.

What about bad weather?

If safety is your concern, I drive a Subaru SUV with all wheel drive and winter tires. I've never had an issue driving up to the valley in the winter. Sometimes the weather is different in the city than the valley. Any tour cancellations will be due to multiple winery closures - if one of them on our itinerary is closed but others are open, we will still go and can adjust the itinerary as we go. That's the beauty of the small, private tour. I'll never cancel a tour because there aren't enough guests!

What does a winter tour look like in Nova Scotia?

It is so similar to a custom tour in the summer. But with the limited options, you also get to save a bit along the way. Winter tours are more affordable because I can't offer you the full spectrum of all the wineries available. This is a great chance to explore the valley, try some new-to-you wines and stay cozy (of course I'll keep the car warm for you!)

How do I book a winter tour?

I'm always happy to answer any questions you might have before you book, feel free to reach out. But if you know what you want, you can book right on my webiste - the winter tour includes a savings of $25 per person over the regular season, but you get everything else, coffee, water snacks and of course, a custom itinerary and private guide.

Why Choose Nova Scotia?

I offer incredible year-round wine tastings and tours of Nova Scotia wines. Traveling to the wineries in Nova Scotia is simple, we are close to an international airport with direct flights from around the country, and internationally. It is so easy to get here! Once you land in Halifax/Dartmouth, you will experience the kindness and heart of Nova Scotia. Wine & Vine Tours offers transport, tastings and all things to make you comfortable.

It was an absolute pleasure spending the day with Stephanie! She greeted us with hot coffees, snacks and was very knowledgeable about the area.
